Neil and Lorlen - Proposal Story
Neil shares to us how he prepared his proposal for Lorlen in Calgary, Canada. When you're as creative as Neil, you can turn a simple spot in a park into a remarkable wedding proposal.
I arrived at Calgary on a Saturday the 25th of May late evening, and I stayed at her brother’s house while she was on a church retreat. Her brother and his wife actually did most of the purchase of the things needed for what I have intended for the proposal.
Sunday morning came along, we ate breakfast quickly and started to load all the stuff in the vehicle. We head to the park which again, her brother, his wife and I have scouted for the best possible spot in the city with a view. And our hearts fell in love with that spot. I was pretty embarrassed carrying all the cheesy stuff to the park with so many people, given that I was already very very nervous about knowing what was about to happen. But a very sweet note she left behind for me the night before gave me the courage to overcome all of these.
When the set up was done, people involved started to show up. Her parents took her to the park, and I met them halfway at the bridge in the picture with a bouquet of flowers. We then talked for a little bit and walked to where her “brother” is. Everyone involved were hiding behind a tree, led her to the place not knowing that there is that setup, then her friend started strumming the guitar as I led her on the blanket.
She was surprised and started to cry right away. I have not written nor memorized a speech since everyone I talked to said they forgot most of what they have to say, so I winged my speech, got on my knees and popped the question! Glad she said yes LOL right after we all took photos, chilled at the park and ate the cake before it melted.
Then went around town since her cousin and his family were in town. We celebrated by eating dinner. The following days, most of us went on a road trip in the mountains, and as you can see, some “prenups” were already done. Haha!
She loved the yellow gold heart at the bottom of the center stone. It is a very simple looking ring, most likely you will see the same-ish design anywhere, but the heart, oh that heart made it hers and hers alone. It was very unique and I really thank you Lucce from the bottom of my heart for making this dream ring of mine, and hers now, possible!
And oh, the park is named “St. Patrick’s Island Park”. I really feel like it is meant to be and suits the best because I really got so blessed stumbling into Lorlen, her becoming my life. And especially stumbling into you guys creating the perfect ring for us!
