Finding the Best Lab Diamond Cut 💎 | Your IGI Report's 4Cs
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) grades lab-grown diamonds in terms of Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. These four elements make up IGI's certification that comes with every Lucce-purchased lab diamond piece. 💎
In this blog series, we discover what each factor entails to help you find the best grade that works for you, starting with the most important of them all—Cut.

They say an IGI Report is the common language of trust in the gemological world, and we agree. Purchasing an IGI-certified lab-grown diamond guarantees that you're getting an authentic jewelry piece. 💍
According to the IGI, "The overall proportions, measurements, and facet angles are compared with IGI studies of brightness, fire, scintillation, and pattern to determine the Cut Grade." You can even find your gemstone's measurements in your Report!
In addition, "If the polish and symmetry assessments are lower than the grade according to overall proportions, they may cause the overall cut grade to be lowered. Weight ratio and durability are also considered in the total assessment of cut quality."

Ideal
How IGI Measures Your Lab Diamond Gemstone
These lab diamonds reflect the maximum light and sparkle thanks to their perfect angles and proportions. "A diamond polished to the highest standards in precision and perfection, resulting in an ideal balance between brilliance and fire," says the IGI.
EXCELLENT
Excellent Cut lab-grown diamonds are almost as precisely cut as Ideal Cut gems. They also have outstanding polish and symmetry, and they reflect the majority of the light that enters through. An Excellent Rating is the highest the IGI grants lab diamonds in Fancy Cuts like Emerald, Pear, and Oval.
VERY GOOD
Meanwhile, a Very Good rating is similar to Excellent, except for a tiny portion of light that passes through the bottom of the gem. Getting this cut rating is a smart choice if you're looking into bigger carat weights for your lab-grown diamond piece.
GOOD, FAIR
These two ratings are the most inferior of all. A Good or Fair Rating occurs when a lab diamond is cut too shallow or too deep. A poor rating means minimal brilliance and may even look dull and dark.
Remember, Cut is the most important factor for a brilliant and beautiful gemstone. Because of this, we only use Excellent to Ideal (Round Cut) and Very Good to Excellent (Fancy Cut) lab diamonds in our designer jewelry. Doing this guarantees that you only get the best the world has to offer in every Lucce piece.
