How Far in Advance Should You Buy an Engagement Ring Before Proposing in the Philippines?

A good rule of thumb is to buy your engagement ring about 2 months before your proposal. That is usually the safest window if you want a crafted-to-order ring, since LUCCE’s standard lead time is typically 6–8 weeks. If your proposal is much sooner, the better path is often our Ready-to-Ship or On-Hand engagement rings.

At LUCCE, we usually present two practical routes for you. The right choice depends on how close your proposal date is:

  • Crafted-to-order Rings, for clients who want more control over their choices and specifications, a more guided process, but with more time
  • Ready-to-Ship Rings, for clients who are in a shorter timeline and want an engagement ring that is already beautifully made and available now

If your proposal is 1 week or less away

At this stage, Ready-to-Ship or an On-Hand Engagement Ring is the most realistic option.

If the ring is available in the listed size, same-day pickup or immediate insured delivery may be possible, subject to confirmation and timing. If resizing is needed, you should expect additional time.

This is not the ideal window for a crafted-to-order engagement ring. The wiser approach is to choose a ready-to-ship ring that is already complete with confirmed availability.

If your proposal is 2–3 weeks away

This is still a Ready-to-Ship timeline, but now you have slightly more room for adjustments or re-sizing if needed.

Two to three weeks away before the proposal is a very workable timeline if you already know the LUCCE design you want. However, if you are still comparing styles or overall direction, it would help to move quickly and get guidance early from your dedicated LUCCE Client Advisor so you do not lose time to uncertainty.

For many of our clients, this is the point where a short appointment becomes especially helpful. It can make the process faster, clearer, and gives our clients more confidence.

If your proposal is 2 months away

For most of our clients, this is the time to seriously consult your LUCCE Client Advisor.

LUCCE has a typical 6–8 week crafted-to-order timeline. Still having 2 months before your proposal gives you room for a serious consultation, design decisions, pickup, insured shipping, or resizing if needed.

If you want a ring that feels considered rather than rushed, this is the sweet spot. You have enough time to choose your engagement ring design and specifications well. You need to remember though, that a serious consultation with your LUCCE Client Advisor is already a must at this point. This is to avoid losing time and missing out on the standard 6-8 week LUCCE crafted to order timeline

If your proposal is more than 2 months away

This is the most flexible and comfortable window for our clients.

You have time to explore LUCCE's original designs, think through your partner's lifestyle, consider the correct ring size, and go through a more deliberate buying process. This is especially useful if you are planning carefully from abroad, coordinating travel to the Philippines, or simply want more peace of mind.

More time means you can make your LUCCE engagement ring choice with greater clarity.

Crafted-to-order vs Ready-to-Ship: how to choose?

Choose a Crafted-to-Order Engagement Ring from LUCCE if you want:

  • a more consultative purchasing experience
  • more time to consider your LUCCE engagement ring design
  • a ring aligned with LUCCE’s typical 6–8 week lead time
  • more flexibility before the proposal date

Choose a Ready-to-Ship Engagement Ring from LUCCE if you want:

  • a faster route
  • a ring that is already completed
  • a practical option for near-term proposals
  • a straightforward path when the listed size already fits

When should you book your LUCCE Appointment?

At LUCCE, an appointment is not always required, but it is often the better experience.

You should usually book an appointment first if:

  • you are considering a crafted-to-order ring
  • you want help choosing between designs
  • you are unsure about ring size
  • your timeline is tight and you want realistic guidance before purchasing
  • you are buying from abroad and want the process handled more carefully

You may be comfortable buying directly from our Ready-to-Ship collection if:

  • you already know the design you want
  • the listed size works or want it to be resized quickly
  • you want the fastest option
  • you prefer a simpler online or in-showroom purchase path

For our clients who value privacy and focused guidance, booking a LUCCE appointment can make the process feel much more curated.

Resizing and how does it affect proposal timing?

Most gold and platinum rings can be resized, depending on the design.

If your selected LUCCE engagement ring needs to be adjusted, this can add time before pickup or delivery. How much time depends on the metal, the design, and the size change needed. You can directly consult your LUCCE Client Advisor to ascertain how long it will take to resize the specific engagement ring that you have chosen.

If your proposal date is very close, choosing the correct or closest listed size from the start is the simplest path.

Metro Manila pickup and insured shipping

LUCCE offers in-showroom pickups in Makati and Vertis North. Showroom pickups can be a reassuring choice when timing is important and you want a more direct handoff.

If pickup is no longer practical, LUCCE also offers insured shipping within the Philippines. For some ready-to-ship rings, immediate insured delivery may be possible when there are no adjustments needed on the ring and all details are confirmed in time.

For OFWs and Foreigners proposing from abroad

If you are overseas and planning to propose in the Philippines, it is best to work backward from your proposal date or travel date.

If you still have time, a guided consultation with your LUCCE Client Advisor is often the most recommended path. It gives you room to confirm your engagement ring design, stone preference, size, payment, and delivery or pickup arrangement in a more orderly way.

If your visit is close and the proposal date is fixed, our Ready-to-Ship engagement rings may be the more practical route.

The key is not to wait until you are already in a rush. A little lead time creates far more flexibility, especially when you are coordinating from abroad.

The simplest way to think about it

Decide early enough for the path you actually want.

If you want the LUCCE crafted-to-order experience, aim for at least 2 months before the proposal, and more if you want extra peace of mind. If your proposal is near, start with the Ready-to-Ship Engagement Rings collection.

If you would like guidance, you may set an appointment with one of our LUCCE Client Advisors. If your timeline is already close, please check and explore LUCCE's Ready-to-Ship engagement rings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get an engagement ring in less than a week?

Yes, but the most realistic option is usually a Ready-to-Ship engagement ring. If the listed size already fits, same-day pickup or immediate insured delivery may be possible, subject to confirmation and timing.

How much extra time does resizing add?

It depends on the engagement ring. Most gold and platinum engagement rings can be resized, depending on the design, but resizing adds time before pickup or delivery. For some ready-to-ship rings, gold resizing may take up to about 7 days, while platinum may take up to about 14 days. Some pieces may also have shorter resizing windows. The safest approach is to confirm the timing for your exact ring before you commit to a proposal date.

Should I book an appointment first?

Book an appointment if you want a more guided experience, are considering crafted-to-order, are unsure about size or design, or are purchasing from abroad. If you already know the ring you want and the listed size fits, buying directly from the ready-to-ship engagement ring collection may also be a practical option.

Where can I pick up my engagement ring in Metro Manila?

LUCCE offers showroom pickup in Makati and Vertis North. If timing matters, pickup can be a reassuring option because it gives you a more direct and controlled handoff.

Is insured shipping available within the Philippines?

Yes. LUCCE offers insured shipping within the Philippines. For some ready-to-ship rings, immediate insured delivery may be possible when the listed size fits and the order is confirmed in time.

I’m an OFW or Foreigner planning to propose in the Philippines. When should I start?

As early as you reasonably can. If you want a crafted-to-order ring, give yourself at least 2 months before the proposal, since the typical timeline is 6–8 weeks. If your travel date is close, Ready-to-Ship engagement rings may be the more practical choice.
