Moses and Nikka - Proposal Story

The Leap day, February 29, occurs every 4 years. But for Moi, he turned 2020's Leap Day into a once in a lifetime moment, as he made it into a "leap of faith" day when he asked Nikka for her hand in marriage.

From being teammates in their church's mission trip, their friendship blossomed into a beautiful testimony of the goodness and faithfulness of God in their lives. Check out their inspiring story from the point of view of Moi:

November 2014, Nikka, a UP student, and I, a UST student, met through a church mission trip to Sri Lanka. After that, we became very good friends, having the same passion, values, and circle of friends in U-Belt. We built a pure and wonderful friendship beyond current circumstances and distance.

February 28, 2019, Nikka and I unexpectedly met at Starbucks P. Noval, after her being almost half a year in Taiwan. That day was the very first time I saw her again in a very long time. She was still that pure-hearted, beautiful, simple, and passionate woman of God I have always known.

And as good as the old times, we shared a lot of stories from where we last left off. That day was also the very same day that God showed me the woman that I wanted to marry someday.

November 2019, By God's grace, Nikka and I officially started dating after several months of courtship. I also started thinking about the next step (proposal), because I believe that the goal of intending to date someone is marriage. By that time, I was a campus missionary assigned in U-Belt and she was a campus missionary assigned in Katipunan.

February 29, 2020, a year after that fateful day with Nikka (which I also call a "leap of faith" year), I wanted to ask for her hand in marriage after 3 months of prayers, planning, asking wisdom from my pastors/mentors, and talks with our families and friends.

Everything was ready! Thanks to Lucce rings, I was able to buy a pure, simple, and beautiful engagement ring that fits her personality.

So just like old times, we met at Starbucks P. Noval and reminisced the good times we had in that place. I then brought her to UST right after that - one of her favorite places in U-Belt, and where the proposal took place.

It was a perfect sunset at Plaza Mayor! With our families and close friends around us, I knelt down and nervously asked her, "will you marry me?" She replied confidently with the words, "Oo namaaan." And there it was! It was yet again proof that our love is 2.20.29 (totoo, tunay). We are on our next phase in our road to forever.

I am so grateful to Lucce Rings for their excellent service in providing me the finest, most durable, and affordable quality ring for me to give to my future spouse and hopefully eventually pass down to our children in the future!

And lastly, I'm most grateful to God who has given us the grace to reach this point. Everything that has happened from the beginning up until today is just proof of His goodness and faithfulness. To God be the glory always and forever.
